EVERYONE IS EITHER SAVED OR LOST

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” – John 14:6 (NIV)

I am grateful for Thomas’ question, as it is one that many people ask today: “How can we know the way?” There are countless individuals in the world who desire to enter heaven, but are unsure of the path. I would like to highlight three universal aspects of humanity. Firstly, all humanity is lost. This is a crucial truth; if one is not saved, they are lost. Everyone is either saved or lost. The Bible emphasizes that the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10). Man needs to be reconciled to God, as he is estranged from Him. Jesus said, “I Am the Way…” Man’s need is fulfilled by God’s solution in Christ. Jesus is the Way for man to be reconciled to God.

Secondly, every human being has been deceived. In the early chapters of Genesis, Satan led humankind to believe that they could be like gods. This lie of Satan, which is essentially humanism, has led every person astray. Additionally, every individual is born in a state of falsehood and requires enlightenment. Jesus Christ is the Truth and addresses the needs of those enmeshed in lies. He is the embodiment of Truth, and His Word, the Bible, is truth.

Thirdly, it is a shared reality that man is spiritually dead and in need of regeneration. God’s provision for spiritually dead individuals is found in Jesus who declared, “I Am the Life.” Since the moment of sin in the Garden of Eden, humankind has been in a state of spiritual death and required life. Every person is born physically dying and spiritually dead. Man is depraved and sinful, and his only hope is the One who claims to be the ‘Life’.

In conclusion, what man needs can be summarized as follows: reconciliation in Christ, the Way; illumination in Christ, the Truth; and regeneration in Christ, the Life. Through faith in Christ, God bestows eternal life, which is not dependent on adherence to rules or regulations, but is irrevocable. It is an everlasting gift.
