About Me

A Theological Orientation

My work is shaped by a conviction that Christian theology is not primarily about defending abstract systems but about learning to think faithfully within the story of God’s action in Christ and the Spirit.

1. Scripture and the Gospel

I read Scripture as a unified, unfolding narrative that reaches its climax in Jesus the Messiah. The gospel, for Paul and the early church, is not merely a message about personal salvation but the announcement that God has acted decisively in Jesus to set the world right, forming a renewed people who embody that new reality in the present.

2. Paul, Participation, and New Creation

My engagement with Paul emphasizes participation in Christ rather than belief as mere assent. Faith is covenantal allegiance—trusting, embodied loyalty to Jesus as Lord—made possible by the Spirit. Justification, reconciliation, holiness, and unity belong together as aspects of God’s new-creation project, not as isolated doctrines.

3. Unity and the Church

I approach Christian unity not as uniformity of opinion but as shared participation in the Messiah’s life and mission. The church is sustained by the Spirit’s work of forming a people shaped by cruciform love, patient forbearance, and hopeful obedience—especially amid disagreement.

4. Ethics, Time, and Faithfulness

Christian ethics makes sense only when time is taken seriously. Because the new age has begun in Christ but is not yet complete, holiness is not moral perfectionism but faithful anticipation—living now in ways that reflect the future God has promised. The Spirit trains communities to inhabit this tension with hope rather than fear.

5. Theology for the Church

My writing is intentionally church-facing rather than purely academic. I aim to translate serious biblical scholarship into theological clarity that serves preaching, teaching, discipleship, and public witness—without reducing theology to slogans or ideological tools.
