About Me

Lorenzo Palon Jr.

Independent Christian Writer | Biblical Studies | Theology | Christian Discipleship

My journey of faith has been shaped by a lifelong desire to understand Scripture more faithfully and to discover what it truly means to follow Jesus Christ. I believe that Christian theology is not merely an intellectual exercise or the defense of established religious traditions. It is a continuing journey of learning to think, believe, and live within the unfolding story of God’s redemptive purposes for His creation.

Over the years, I have served in various capacities within the Christian community, including ecclesiastical leadership as a bishop. These experiences have given me a deeper appreciation of Christian fellowship, pastoral responsibility, and the importance of sound biblical teaching. They have also taught me that genuine faith requires humility, discernment, and the willingness to examine even our most deeply held convictions in the light of Scripture.

My theological journey has not been without difficult decisions. Through sustained biblical study, I gradually came to recognize that certain teachings and institutional practices I had once sincerely embraced were becoming increasingly difficult to reconcile with my understanding of Scripture. Eventually, I had to make a decision of conscience. That experience strengthened my conviction that our ultimate allegiance belongs to Jesus Christ, whose authority transcends every human institution.

Today, my theological interests center on the New Testament, particularly the writings of the apostle Paul, the identity and lordship of Jesus Christ, Trinitarian monotheism, and the biblical promise of new creation. I am especially interested in understanding the gospel as the announcement that God has acted decisively through the death and resurrection of Jesus the Messiah to inaugurate His kingdom and begin the renewal of the world.

My understanding of Christian hope is shaped by what biblical scholars commonly call inaugurated eschatology. Through Christ’s resurrection and the gift of the Holy Spirit, God’s promised future has already broken into the present, although its final consummation remains ahead. Christian hope, therefore, is not ultimately about escaping the earth for an eternal disembodied existence in heaven. It concerns bodily resurrection, the renewal of creation, and God’s everlasting dwelling with His redeemed people.

I also believe that Christian discipleship must have visible consequences in everyday life. The gospel calls us to embody the character of Christ through humility, justice, reconciliation, love, and faithful witness. Our confession that Jesus is Lord must shape not only our religious beliefs but also our relationships, moral decisions, and responsibilities toward the world around us.

My theological reflections have been enriched by engagement with scholars such as N. T. Wright, James D. G. Dunn, Richard B. Hays, Michael J. Gorman, Scot McKnight, and others whose work has helped illuminate the historical, literary, and theological dimensions of Scripture. While I value their contributions, I do not regard any scholar or theological tradition as beyond critical examination.

Through this website, I share biblical reflections, theological essays, and personal insights intended to encourage thoughtful engagement with Scripture. I do not claim to possess all the answers. My own understanding continues to develop, and I remain convinced that theological maturity requires intellectual honesty, humility, and openness to correction.

Above all, I believe that the Christian life is a continuing response to God’s grace revealed in Jesus Christ and made effective through the Holy Spirit. We are called not merely to defend doctrines, but to become a people whose lives bear witness to the reality of God’s coming kingdom.

My hope is that these writings will encourage others to read Scripture carefully, question assumptions responsibly, exercise freedom of conscience faithfully, and discover more deeply the transforming significance of Jesus Christ and His gospel.
