(read 2 Cor. 9:8-10)
One of the greatest titles for God is “the God who is able” (cf. Romans 16:25; Eph. 3:20; Jude 24 and 25), and aren’t you glad that you give to a God who is able without you having to give? His grace is such that He is initiating every spiritual blessing overflow to you so that you will always, in every situation have an entire sufficiency to overflow for every good cause. Hallelujah! God is able in every circumstance, in every situation to supply an overflowing abundance for His children. Praise the Lord!
“God will supply you with seed and multiply it and enlarge the harvest with your deeds of charity. This is a really important spiritual truth we should never neglect – God will provide means where you can give more. Now that doesn’t mean that if you give, God will make you wealthy so you can spend it on your own pleasures, and have a bigger house, and a bigger car, and and do what you want to with your money. I believe God will give the faithful giver more so that he can give more. For the man who God realizes He can trust with the stewardship of God’s property, God will channel through that individual abundance for God’s work, God’s world, and God’s people. So God’s looking for a channel to flow through His resources to man’s needs. That’s a whole different ballgame, that I’m going to give so I’ll get wealthy so I can do what i want to do with more money. We are stewards; we are meant to be channels of the grace and blessing of God to others. I want to tell you, I think one of the reasons why we don’t receive much more material things from God, is that most of us when we have the things of the world, we start depending on the things of the world. I think God would give us much more if He could trust us to use material things for His honor and glory, but that’s just not true to most Christians, because they have a distorted sense of stewardship.
